What is spirit to you?

What does it looks like? What does it feels like? How important do you think spirits is? What is it to you?

Update:

This does have something to do with martial art. Especially to TMA.

Update 2:

@Man of faith. Finally, someone who can actually give me a real decent answer.

In general I could write a book. But as far as martial arts are concerned, I view it as the drive and determination that keeps us pushing forward. Spirit in and of itself for me doesn't directly translate to martial arts, but in the context of this discussion, I can see what you mean.

Spirit is what makes martial arts a world apart from a hobby to a passion.

Spirit is what gets us up in the morning and makes us go in our yard or the Dojo and go through our forms again. It is the driving flame that sparks our desire to achieve.

Spirit looks like the smile on a student's face when they first get to class.

Spirit feels like that fire in you that says, "Yes, I need to do this."

Without a certain level of spirit or drive, or ambition, you are simply doing martial arts, not living them.

Drive keeps you going, Ambition keeps you waiting, passion keeps you in it for the long haul, and spirit makes you happy doing it the whole time.

Spirit is like an erection in the morning. Something that at first feels strange and pointless but after a while you see its true purpose.
