Why do people have an abortion?
It's not the baby's fault the person got raped or it was an accident the woman did get pregnant. I don't understand why the mother of the child has an abortion instead of putting it up for adoption. Don't they know they'll have the baby's blood on their hands for the rest of their lives?
I am to judge that people shouldn't just kill off babies from their life. A better alternative way would to be putting it up for adoption.

Now I'm against abortion, but to judge the women who have them for valid reasons is quite wrong.
You say put it up for adoption? News flash for you, not all babies can be adopted out.
My baby would be ineligible, for example. Type 1 diabetes, laryngomalacia, cancer, glaucoma, longqt syndrome and many other things are within 1-2 generations of him, and are spread throughout both sides of his family. He is at risk for all of those things, confirmed by my doctor and midwife. That makes him ineligible for adoption.
Do your research before you judge, some women have no choice. What about ones that were raped, and had similar problems where their babies couldn't be adopted out? It's heartbreaking but some situations call for horrible decisions. I don't think it's fair to ask a woman who was raped to raise her attacker's child..
Source(s): 20 weeks pregnant. Abortion is awful, but sometimes there's nothing else a woman can do without destroying herself emotionally to try and do what society claims is 'the right thing'. :( - 8 years ago
I only believe in abortion If the women was raped or in a serious accident which could put the mother and baby's life at risk. That's what I call '' Cruel to be kind ''
Now onto abortions.
The baby did not ask to be created. Therefore if one gets pregnant they should step up to their responsibility and not opt for the easy route out. If one does not want the baby then give it a life with parents who will love and want the child.
I fell pregnant at 18 due fault of my own. Although I didn't have a job or education I knew that I created this baby and therefore I will take responsibly. It took me awhile to be happy, but then it struck me. I will love and care for this baby and will do whatever it takes.
I don't frown upon women who had an abortion if '' refer to my first answer ''
but what I do find disgusting and selfish is women who have multiple abortions.

You do realize that abortion isn't a punishment?
People don't get abortions because they think the fetus has done something wrong.
They get an abortion because they simply, for whatever reason, don't want the fetus there.
Which is a basic human right.
Everyone has the right to decide what happens to their body in such regards.
No one has a right to turn a person's body into their personal life support machine.
No one has a right to take from a person's body without their consent.
Adoption-
Involves going through the entire pregnancy (Most abortions {88%} happen by 12 weeks)
Involves paying a lot of money (Buying certain foods, seeing the doctor on a regular basis, the delivery itself)
Involves finding someone to adopt, hopefully (Foster care is full of babies never adopted, and people want white, healthy babies from healthy parents.)
Involves giving up a child they may not be able to afford or care for after a point in which they may have come attached to it (willingly or not, thanks to hormones.)
Might involve putting them self in danger, the leading cause of death for women is being murdered pregnant.
Involves risking their health, their general welfare, maybe even their job, and even their life in order to bring that pregnancy to term.
Abortion-
a simple procedure with very little risk.
Not nearly as expensive as caring a pregnancy to term.
As for blood on hands, I'd say people who want to force children into this world have far more blood on their hands. Blood that will actually follow them for the rest of their life, if they would actually open their eyes and recognize it.
Blood of once living, breathing, thinking children who had no power over the situation they were born into, and which the power has been stripped from the people who could have actually saved them from neglect, abuse, starvation, death, or whatever horrors that child had to face.
I guess it's kind of hard for them to see that though, what with their eyes closed hard as they scream and cry about the poor little fetus and how a group of people who have been stomped on and dehumanized throughout history will not simply lie down once more and continue to allow people to treat them as less than human.

Go read some articles about it. There will be plenty. Plenty of stories told by women about what they went through and what they were thinking. And I can guarantee they aren't thinking "this is the baby's fault, so I want to hurt it".
All this question proves is that you have never even been close to someone in that situation let alone in that situation yourself.
Of all the stupid questions I have read on this forum, and I mean STUPID, this one is the most infuriating.
I am so impressed with the other women who have answered you calmly.
Do some research you judgemental cretin. Or try and sound more sympathetic when you are asking about something so beyond your understanding.
OH MY GOD. I knew you had to be male to ask this. I just had to check your profile to confirm. FFS. Get out of here. And if you are infact still in school, a tip - don't ask rhetorical questions, on a pregnancy forum, clearly aiming to shame people, not actually learn something or open your mind.

There is a lot of stuff on the internet that is basically fat-shaming diabetics for causing their own diabetes with their bad diet and lack of exercise and general lack of moral fibre. A lot of this stuff is written by non-doctors, often with a supplement or diet or training plan to sell that they claim will completely cure diabetes if only people stick to it.
I read this interesting book https://tr.im/CVhUv that gave me a lot of useful tips about my disease and also a different perspective on the best therapeutical approach. I think you should read it too.

Because they don't want to be pregnant. Simple.
Unless you're adopting some of the thousands of kids in the US, you really shouldn't be lecturing someone on what to do with their life, especially since its none of your business to begin with.
Oops just saw you are in the UK. Well however many kids waiting to be adopted there, go adopt them before you make someone's life your concern.

Only a small percentage of abortions are due to rape or health issues, the majority are elective.
some reasons could be:
-they are not woman enough to take responsibility for their actions
-don't want to lose freedom
-don't want to sacrifice dreams/money/time/effort to raise a child
-they are scared of other's judgment if they find out about the pregnancy
-they are not confident in themselves that they can raise a child without a man.
-they think the baby is a "bloob of tissue/cells/parasite" and feel no remorse removing it from their body.
-don't want a child connecting them to the father for the rest of their lives.
sometimes abortion is most convenient for a woman but NEVER the best thing for the baby since it means their death.
These women are not victims, i don't have sympathy for them, they made a decision and they will have to have that in their conscience.

People terminate pregnancies for all sorts of reasons, including the psychocolical trauma it could cause them to carry a permanent reminder of rape around for 9 months and including pregnancies which will result in a child simply too ill to live. Don't expect everyone to abide by your moral code.

You do as you want and let others do as they want. I am not pro abortion either but understand that it's an individual's decision to make. Who are you to judge?

Because they don't want it in their body, they don't want to carry it or give birth to it, end of story pretty much.
