I would imagine they just have amazing birth control... like some pill you take and it has a bunch of nano robots that destroy the sperm...
then you just turn the robots off when you want to have a kid... "hey baby... my robots are off..."

Given the conditions that they're working under it would make sense to require that all crew members undergo sterilization procedures prior to flight

Did you ever notice a woman having a period either? They've apparently invented a birth control that completly stops a womans minstril cycle so there's no need for abortions.

Being an enlightened society, they discuss birth control with their children and routinely use it in long increments, rather than relying on a last minute purchase or just "pulling out."

Abortions will not be necessary in the future because women will have fool proof ways of not becoming pregnant.

I assume they give out good birth control. Also there must be some births otherwise there would not be any new cadets.
