My parents are dead beat losers; and even if they weren't I still wouldn't care about what they thought.
You see parents like to live their lives through their kids without even knowing it. My mom wanted me to be a doctor so bad just so she could show off to her relatives. She also wanted to be a doc herself but never achieved it!
Sure people were angry that I joined the service but its my life, the same way they live theirs is the same way I will live mines. You think I can tell my uncle to sell his grocery simply because I want him to? NO. So when people tell me where I should work I simply tell them to mind their business!
Funny thing is the people who NEVER served always tell you that you are making a bad decision............how the heck would they know?....smh

When I first told my folks, my mother was heartbroken - but my stepdad was supportive because he knew it would help me. Mom came around eventually.

They are very supportive of the fact that I have supported my family and seen the world and now have a good retirement.

When I joined, I was already moved out of their house and living on my own. I had been for two years. But because we were a military family, it wasn't an issue when I told them. And had they been unhappy, they would have been colossal hypocrites.

They were worried but supportive. My father was a veteran and my mother came from a family that had a great military history. They worried, since it was during Vietnam, but were proud and supportive.
