  • Chances I deploy to either Afghanistan or Syria when I join the Marine Corps?

Joining the USMC infantry in 2014. This is the time we are pulling out of afghan so I have a couple questions......

    1. Will I go to afghanistan? I know we are pulling out but will still have a presence there. Will my unit be deployed to train afghans or as security? What's the chances I go there? Also, can you volunteer to go? How does that work? Are you permanently reassigned to a new unit? Will u be able to volunteer in 2014-2015?

    2. Also, what are the chances that the US has to put American boots on the ground in Syria to either fight or secure chemical weapons after Assad is gone? If Assad is gone, thousands of chemical weapons will be lying around and according to many articles, about 60,000 us troops would have to be deployed to secure them. What are the chances of a large number of troops like this deploying to syria? Will us boots be in syria in a couple of years?

I know that nobody has a crystal ball but just logical answers from experienced people. Thanks a lot

  • Marine to Police Officer?

Im a smart kid, 3.5 gpa in all honors classes, on my state all star team in high school hockey and lacrosse and in shape. I want to join the Marine Corps infantry when i graduate. Ive already decided im fine with giving up the opportunity to play college sports but theres one thing that worries me. With how hard it is to get a job these days, will it be very hard for me to find a good paying job right out of the Corps without a college degree? Should i use the GI bill if i want any chance of finding a job that pays well? Im looking at a police officer. Whats the best route to take to become a police officer right out of the Corps? If i can avoid going back to college that would be great but if thats what i have to do then fine. Just need some advice on how to get a job as a police officer after the USMC. Thanks

  • Im joining the USMC Infantry in 2014?

I graduate high school in 2014 and am going to try to get a summer ship out date to boot camp. I have two questions...

    1. After the Corps, how hard/easy is it to get a job in law enforcement or a job in the federal government? Such as police officer, or something. I have 3.5 gpa in all honors classes so im a pretty smart kid. Will i need to do college after the Corps in order to get a job? 2 or 4 years?

    2. Assuming nothing happens in regard to Syria and Iran, how likley is it that i get deployed to Afghanistan since we are pulling out in 2014? Will my batallion still go as security? Do troops still regularly deploy after 2014 ends? If not, can you volunteer? And how likley is it that ground troops end up in syria or iran? Thanks in advance. I know theres no way to be sure but thanks for your help.

  • Is it likely that the US goes to war with Syria or Iran?

How likely is each? Where would ground troops be involved? Also, assuming Al Assad is topples in syria, is it true that the US is going to send about 40,000 troops to secure the chemical weapons? Thnx

  • Do you forsee U.S. ground troops in a country within the next 3 years?

First of all, im joining the Marines at the end of the 2014 year and should be done with all training by early 2015. Will i go to afghanistan? I heard all combat troops are coming out then some ppl say we will still have thousands of troops there until the 2020s. Also, do you forsee us ground troops in a country like syria or iran within the next couple of years? Thanks

  • How long does it take to go from civilian to MARSOC operator?

I know 3 months boot camp 2 months soi and then some more pre deployment training but then what. How do u get in and how long does it take. Also, one more sort of off topic question. Ill be joining the USMC infantry in 2014 and if all goes to plan ill be done with sou by very early 2015. So i was wondering if i would go to afghanistan with the withdrawal going on. I know we r keeping a presence there so that why i was wondering if i would deploy there with an infantry unit. Thanks in advance guys

  • Info about USMC MARSOC?

I want to join the USMC infantry after high school and if i want to continue on with the military, i want to try to get into MARSOC. I just have some questions:

    1. What are the requirements and whats the quickest route into MARSOC? (Avoiding recon/force recon)

    2. Do they do similar missions like SEALs? Do they get called for missions often since theyre so new?

    3. Do they deploy or do they stay at base until they recieve a mission like a direct raid or something? What sets them apart from regular infantry?

    4. Finally, if you pass the training, are their different jobs or are they all infantry? Like is there a mechanic or something like that? Or does everyone do the same thing?.... Kill the enemy.

Thanks in advance and i apoligize for how long it is

    2. Whats the quickest route into MARSOC? (Avoiding recon/force recon)

    3. Do they do similar missions like SEALs?

    4. Do they deploy or do they stay at base until they recieve a mission like a direct raid or something? What sets them apart from regular infantry?

  • Question about the Marine Corps?

Say i get a high ASVAB score and a gt score of around 105. Would i still be able to become an 0311 if i sign an infantry contract? I heard that if you have high gt scored they might assign you to lav crew or assultman. Could i still be an 0311? Do i have any say?

  • What do guys usually do after Spec Ops?

Say someone joins the Marines and after two years gets into MARSOC. That means that after their MARSOC contract is over theyve spent about 7 years in the military. After they are honorably discharged, what do you do in the civillian world? If u do your 4 years in regular USMC infantry, you are still a reasonable age to go to college but after MARSOC, youre older so im guessing most dont go to college. Does special operations automatically get u a job in law enforcement or with the government afterwards? I jut feel like after 7-8 years in the military your too old for college so what opitions are there? How do people make a living after 8 years in the military? Thanks for the answers

  • Is MARSOC comparable to SEALs?

Do they have the capability, funding, training, etc of the SEALs. SEALs are very renowned so thats why i chose them to coompare with. Also, does MARSOC go on raids and hostage rescues like SEALs and where are MARSOC operators generally deployed? Thanks in advance!

  • How to get into MARSOC?

I plan on joining the Marines after highschool. If i want to continue with the military, i believe i have what it takes for special operations. Sorry if i sound naive or arrogant. I dont mean to come across that way. I was just wondering about MARSOC. I have some questions:

    1. How do you get the opportunity to try out?

    2. How is the training compared to SEALs? How long/rigorous?

    3. Whats the role of MARSOC? Do they do high value targets like SEALs? What type of missions does MARSOC do?

    4. Finally, if you do get into MARSOC, what is the contract? How long are you in for and then do u go back to regular infantry after your contract or are you honorably discharged? And one more thing, i know if you make it thru BUDs you get a $40,000 check. Anything like that for MARSOC?

    Thanks in advance!
