Chances I deploy to either Afghanistan or Syria when I join the Marine Corps?
Joining the USMC infantry in 2014. This is the time we are pulling out of afghan so I have a couple questions......
1. Will I go to afghanistan? I know we are pulling out but will still have a presence there. Will my unit be deployed to train afghans or as security? What's the chances I go there? Also, can you volunteer to go? How does that work? Are you permanently reassigned to a new unit? Will u be able to volunteer in 2014-2015?
2. Also, what are the chances that the US has to put American boots on the ground in Syria to either fight or secure chemical weapons after Assad is gone? If Assad is gone, thousands of chemical weapons will be lying around and according to many articles, about 60,000 us troops would have to be deployed to secure them. What are the chances of a large number of troops like this deploying to syria? Will us boots be in syria in a couple of years?
I know that nobody has a crystal ball but just logical answers from experienced people. Thanks a lot

This is the EIGHTH time you have asked essentially the same question.
You have asked this about NINE times under your other screen name "James".
None of the truthful answers have changed any in the last two weeks.
The only way you are going to Afghanistan is if you become an Embassy Guard a few years from now. There are NO plans to retain Marine ground combat units in Afghanistan after the withdrawal. Stop coming up with new ways to ask this question.
There are no plans to go into Syria right now - nor should there be.

Obama did such a miserable job with his exit strategy in Iraq that it is doubtful we will leave Afghanistan anytime soon. Unfortunately the US will be relegated to training the Afghans, which puts our troops in a vulnerable situation given the high number of American troops that have been murdered by this slime.
It's doubtful we will see American troops in Syria, even though the smart money believes the solution is a combination of UN and US troops to go in to calm the situation. I personally believe the rebels are a worse solution than Assad staying in power. I believe that fanatical Islam will be the result of the rebels taking power whereas Assad has a secular government. Assad's because problem is his connection to Hezbollah and Iran. Russia isn't much help either, but it's doubtful that it will ever do more than supply weaponry.

After 2014 there will be very few American troops in Afghanistan. in case you desire to circulate to Afghanistan, there is one thank you to assure it. connect the Marines and persist with for MCESG, you will get one decision out of your 3 excursions of accountability, you could decide on Afghanistan and you will circulate there.
