Help me to select a charity to give money to!?
I made a resolution to give more to charity, so I'm going to give money to another charity every month. The only trouble is I'm not sure who is the best charity to give to. I'd like to give money to a charity that helps children, especially one that supports girls human rights and empowers girls. I'm worried that a lot of charities don't do what they say they do, so I'd like some advice on the most trustworthy charities.
I don't feel religion is a productive thing in general so I'd rather stay away from religious organisations.

You don't have to give to some national charity, instead you could find a local club or group that could benefit.
We were involved with a sports group, football, cheerleading, baseball, etc., and local people could help by sponsoring children that ordinarily couldn't afford the district fees to join the league. They could just sponsor the child's fee or they could sponsor for their uniform or whatever.
There are also local food pantries in just about every area and they could always use help. You could decide on how much you want to give each month and either donate the money or go to the grocery store & buy that much in items.
Since you're leaning more toward girls, try checking with your local women's shelter and seeing if they need anything. They also might know some more local groups for girls that could use your help. We have one that gets girls involved with animals & 4H.
If you're doing it for credits on your income tax, then you'd have to check with each organization to make sure they give you the appropiate receipt, but if you're doing it just to be involved with something good, then the local groups would benefit the most.

Habitat for Humanity is a super safe and legit organization. They go all around the world to build houses for less fortunate families. I am a member of this organization and I am going to Kenya this summer for my first trip. All of the money that is given to Habitat for Humanity goes towards building materials for these houses. If you want to donate to this organization, you can donate to the website or you can donate to a person who is going and building the houses.

Plan UK does a great job empowering girls so they can stay in school.
I support them with as little as £3 a month that you can donate via SMS. Very easy! plus yo ucan skip a month if you need to.
Have a look at their website:
