Installing a fan/light combo and 2 switches?

I am removing just a light in my bathroom and installing a light/fan combo fixture. I want the switch the have separate controls for the fan and light. Do I need to just run a third wire to the light fixture box?

Yup you need another leg of power so you can switch it to control the fan. So another hot wire will be needed.

If the existing swap is particularly a 3way, making use of the new swap will reason you to lose the 3way operate. Your description seems like a stacked combo change, so i will go with that. If you're exchanging this switch so the faraway will work, just confirm what wires you have on the ceiling. If the fan and light had been wired individually before, pick one of the most existing switch-legs(coloured wire connected to the fan and light leads in the ceiling, wire nut it for security and tuck again in field. You should now have; white, 1 colour and floor. Connect these to the new fan. Turn on the existing switches one by one to look which now controls the fan/light. If the colours in the ceiling in shape the colours within the wall, should be easy. After discovering appropriate switch, mark the wire. With vigor off get rid of ancient change. Connect 2 black wires with a 6" piece of wire(pigtail) utilizing a wirenut. Join the pigtail to either of the black wires from the swap(if marked, hook up with "Line"). Join the change leg you marked to the opposite black wire on the swap. Put a wirenut on the other switchleg and tuck again into the box. Join the fairway wire on the swap to the bottom wire within the box. The switch will have to be on for the far flung to work. Just continually depart the switch on. Be certain to vote a excellent answer whichever you opt for.

It depends on the wiring method in your bathroom. If it is Romex cable then a new cable with additional conductors must be installed. If this is a conduit installation then an additional conductor is all that is needed.
