Rug Carpet Stair Treads on Carpeted stairs.?
Rug Carpet Stair Treads on Carpeted stairs.?
Hi - I have some rug carpet stair treads (one per tread) that I want to hold in place on carpeted stairs. I like this idea because I can remove and wash them. Is there a carpet tape I can use that will not leave a residue on the carpeted stairs themselves? Or is there some mechanical means I can use to attach/clip them to each tread that still leaves them easily removable and will not damage the stairs.
Please only answers that actually are a solution to the problem and do not criticize my question - wht. If I need generic advise I'll see my shrink. lol

=== making the stair treads on top of the carpet creates a cushion of thick carpet that makes the stairs a hazard to the footing == as for the attachment of additional tread it would be best for you to call a carpet store or visit one of the hardware giants and ask if there is a solution to your plan ....

I am a carpet installer, and i wouldn't recommend putting these treads over existing carpet and pad on the steps, as it could be a major trip hazard. If you decide to anyway, you can go to a flooring store and buy stair rods that install over the tread, in the crotch of the step.
Good luck, John

Does anyone sell clear platic runners with grippers to place over the stairs? These would be thinner.
