What are some older Christian songs?

Hello :) I'm looking for some older Christian songs since I'm going to a Christian Nursing Home and I'm supposed to plan the singing-songs program and I'll like to ask for a few examples of Christian songs they might know. I've got songs like Amazing Grace and Jesus Loves Me already, and I'm wondering if anyone here would know of more (which a teen like me MIGHT have heard of before since we have to learn how to sing it too)

Thanks!

    Words & Music: Robert Lowry, 1864; first published in Happy Voices, 1865, number 220 (MIDI, score):

    Shall we gather at the river,

    Where bright angel feet have trod,

    With its crystal tide forever

    Flowing by the throne of God?

    Refrain

    Yes, we’ll gather at the river,

    The beautiful, the beautiful river;

    Gather with the saints at the river

    That flows by the throne of God.

    On the margin of the river,

    Washing up its silver spray,

    We will talk and worship ever,

    All the happy golden day.

    Refrain

    Ere we reach the shining river,

    Lay we every burden down;

    Grace our spirits will deliver,

    And provide a robe and crown.

    Refrain

    At the smiling of the river,

    Mirror of the Savior’s face,

    Saints, whom death will never sever,

    Lift their songs of saving grace.

    Refrain

    Soon we’ll reach the silver river,

    Soon our pilgrimage will cease;

    Soon our happy hearts will quiver

    With the melody of peace.

    SOFTLY AND TENDERLY JESUS IS CALLING

    Source: http://www.hymnal.net/hymn.php/h/1027#ix%E2%80%A6

    Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling—

    Calling for you and for me;

    Patiently Jesus is waiting and watching—

    Watching for you and for me!

    REFRAIN:

    Come home! come home!

    Ye who are weary, come home!

    Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling,

    Calling, O sinner, come home!

    Why should we tarry when Jesus is pleading—

    Pleading for you and for me?

    Why should we linger and heed not His mercies—

    Mercies for you and for me?

    Time is now fleeting, the moments are passing—

    Passing from you and from me;

    Shadows are gathering, death-beds are coming—

    Coming for you and for me!

    Oh, for the wonderful love He has promised—

    Promised for you and for me!

    Though we have sinned, He has mercy and pardon—

    Pardon for you and for me!

    Worship Lyrics

    CHRIST BE OUR LIGHT

    Longing for light, we wait in darkness

    Longing for truth, we turn to You

    Make us Your own, Your holy people

    Light for the world to see

    Christ, be our light

    Shine in our hearts, shine through the darkness

    Christ, be our light

    Shine in Your church gathered today

    Longing for peace, our world is troubled

    Longing for hope, many despair

    Your word alone has pow’r to save us

    Make us Your living voice

    Longing for food, many are hungry

    Longing for water, many still thirst

    Make us Your bread, broken for others

    Shared until all are fed

    Longing for shelter, many are homeless

    Longing for warmth, many are cold

    Make us Your building, sheltering others

    Walls made of living stone

    Many the gifts, many the people

    Many the hearts that yearn to belong

    Let us be servants to one another

    Making Your kingdom come

    How Great Thou Art

    Lyrics ~ Carl Boberg, 1859 - 1940

    English Translation ~ Stuart K. Hine, 1899 - 1989

    http://www.greatchristianhymns.com/how-g%E2%80%A6

    Stanza 1:

    O Lord my God,

    When I in awesome wonder,

    Consider all the world Thy Hand hath made,

    I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,

    Thy pow'r throughout the universe displayed;

    (Most translate the second line as "worlds thy hands have made")

    Refrain:

    Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,

    How great Thou art! How great Thou art!

    Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,

    How great Thou art! How great Thou art!

    Stanza 2:

    When through the woods And forest glades I wander

    I hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees;

    When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur,

    and hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze;

    Refrain:

    Stanza 3:

    And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing;

    Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;

    That on the Cross, My burden gladly bearing,

    He bled and died to take away my sin.

    Refrain:

    Stanza 4:

    When Christ shall come, With shouts of acclamation,

    And take me home, What joy shall fill my heart!

    Then I shall bow in humble adoration

    And there proclaim, "My God, how great Thou art!"

    Refrain:

    Many people think of these as "Protestant Hymns",

    but we use these in my Catholic parish fairly often.

    I am Roman Catholic.

    Peace be with you.

    Source(s): . I suggested these songs because every one of them is very easy to sing, and older people are likely to both know them and enjoy them.

    Usually when something is children friendly, the older folks will like it, too. So how about something that even the little ones would find safe and heartwarming, and not scary at all...

    There Is a Fountain in Christ's Blood

    There is a fountain of Christ's blood

    Wide open stretched for to drown our sins

    Where Jesus stands with open arms

    Of mercy to invite us in

    His crown of thorns set on with scorn

    He sold his pain his fleshly store

    With ragged nails through hands and feet

    They nailed our rich redeemer sweet

    With a bloody spear they pierced his heart

    And bruised his bleeding body sore

    From every wound the blood ran down

    The spring of life could bleed no more

    When all his precious blood was spent

    The thunder roared and the rocks did rent

    The earth did quake and clouds did rumble

    Which made hell shake and devils tremble

    The sun and moon a-mourning went

    The seas did roar and the temples rent

    And the richness of Christ's precious blood

    Did open graves and raise the dead

    How old we talking here? Ancient? 'Cause then some sweet, sweet Latin chanting will get those geezers off there butts...though that might be in an attempt to kill you...but I digress. Honestly, they'll probably like any song that is played at a fairly slow pace....

    WAIT! Battlemarch of the Republic! Hah! I knew you were in my head somewhere you little f*cker. Use that one, mmmkay?

    A message from Yahweh/Jehovah/The Most High God, Jesus God, Moses the angel God and Zipporah/Christine Anne the prophetess, secretary and woman of Revelation 12:15-17.

    God means ruler and angels that are rulers are called Gods, that is why YHWH is The Most HIGH God.
