Can I catch a virus that's going around twice?

I'm going against the grain on this one. No, you are not able to "catch" the same virus twice. But do keep in mind that it is possible to relapse and it seem like you've caught it again. Also there are SO many different strains of viruses, some that seem to mini each other to a T. As for having someone over that has not been symptom or fever free for at least 24 hours is not wise.

All virus's can be caught several times, so just make sure you continually wash your hands especially before rubbing your nose, mouth or eyes. Usually even the flu virus is only is from hand to hand, mouth to mouth contact with a person whom has it, sneezes within 6 ft (that is what the doctors are saying) of you, in a confined space with that person or simply touching something where he/she has rubbed his nose and left the germ like on a door knob. Just for precaution wash your hands it will help keep you free from the germ.

I do think it is a bad idea for someone whom is still sick to visit you and expose you to it again.

Yes, you can catch it as many times as you are exposed to it, if you are really unlucky.
