Older guitarist who is very talented?

There's alot of older guitarist who are very good and multi-talented! However there is one gentleman that stands out of the crowd and plays anything from Yanni to Jimi Hendrix, anything! I had gotten an e-mail from a friend years back about him and can not remember the artist name. Any idea???
