11x - 3 = 3x + 37 Now collect like terms- i.e. put the xs on one side and the numbers on the other
8x = 40 Now divide both sides by 8 to see what x is
x = 5

11x - 3 = 3x + 37
11x - 3x = 3 + 37
8x = 40
(1/8)(8x) = (1/8)(40)
x = 5
Prove:
Let x = 5
11(5) - 3 = 3(5) + 37
55 - 3 = 15 + 37
52 = 52
Answer is x = 5

First you need to get all the x's on one side and the numbers on the other
11x - 3x = 37 + 3
This gives 8x = 40
Then divide both sides by 8 to give x = 5

I'll help you.
You need to cancel the x and cancel one of the numbers. I recommend you cancel the 11 and the 37. After that you would have to plus 3x+11x and -3-37. After that, you divide the x and the number. Hope this is clear enough.
