Question about breathing/singing exercises?
So, I know that you are supposed to use your diaphragm so sing. I have been practicing learning to breathe into my stomach, aka using my diaphragm, is your chest supposed to hurt after practicing transferring the air into your diaphragm? Also, do you sing like this normally all the time or only when you're singing? Please answer all of the questions. Thanks!
Also, is it supposed to feel like I am breathing less by forcing myself to use my diaphragm? Am I supposed to feel light headed after a while of singing?

When you breathe with you diaphragm, your stomach should stick out like you're trying to make it look like you're pregnant. It shouldn't hurt and your shoulders shouldn't move at all. A good exercise to see if you're doing this correctly is to put a yard stick behind you and through your arms (in the crease of your elbow with the stick resting on your lower back). This will keep your shoulders back and you'll be able to feel if they move. Just concentrate on taking strong, deep breaths that make your stomach stick out.e. And yes, you should breathe like this whenever you sing, but you don't have to breathe like that all the time.

Ermm no, I don't think it's supposed to hurt after you sing using your diaphragm. I do it all the time... Maybe you're doing something wrong? And yeah, I think you're supposed to sing with your diaphragm all the time. It might feel like you're breathing less, but it's supposed to make your voice more powerful. However, feeling light headed isn't normal, I think... Perhaps don't push so hard? Hope this helps! (: x

Hey,
I saw some improvements in my singing voice thanks to this online resource http://www.goobypls.com/r/rd.asp?gid=295.
I needed some training but couldn't afford a vocal coach. I'm happy with the results.
Cheers ;)
