Serious bible question for bible knowledgeable people only.?
I love the word of God but this has me stumped. The scriptures tell us that sin leads to death such as.. Gal 6:8, James 1:15, Rev 20:14-15 and several more. Other scriptures say that sinners will be in torment forever such as..Matt 25:46, Rev 14:9-11 and so on. Any thoughts on this will be greatly appreciated. Here are the scriptures that I referred to so you don't have to look them up.
Gal 6:8..(NLT)..Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.
James 1:15 (KJV).. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
Rev 20:14-15 (KJV)..14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Matt 25:46 (KJV) Jesus said... And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
Rev 14:9-11 (NLT)..9 Then a third angel followed them, shouting, “Anyone who worships the beast and his statue or who accepts his mark on the forehead or on the hand 10 must drink the wine of God’s anger. It has been poured full strength into God’s cup of wrath. And they will be tormented with fire and burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and the Lamb. 11 The smoke of their torment will rise forever and ever, and they will have no relief day or night, for they have worshiped the beast and his statue and have accepted the mark of his name.”
Thanks for the help.
So the question is...does the sinner die or are they forever in torment?

Dear friend I can see were this might lead to confusion but the answer is very plane.
The Bible at Romans 6:7 states: “The one who has died has been acquitted from his sin.” The unrighteous will have paid for their sins by dying.
The torture people in a fiery hell would be neither just nor loving.
What crime, however horrible, could cause a God of love to torture a person endlessly? (1 John 4:8)
Myth: The Wicked Suffer in Hell forever.
FACT:God does not punish people in hell..
What does the Bible say?
“For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing, . . . for there is no work or thought or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol, to which you are going.”—Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10,

I agree that the "Wages of sin is DEATH"
But, since when does "death' equal "torment forever' ???
I believe that is a WRONG interpretation of the scriptures.
The terms 'everlasting' and 'forever and ever' are NOT synonymous with ETERNAL.
At the moment only YHWH is eternal, not even the angels are eternal.
Remember Sodom ? Where the smoke shall rise forever and ever ?
Is that city still smoking ? NO!, We don't even KNOW where Sodom was !
No my friend, the "Wages of sin is DEATH" not eternal life in a torture pit !
Death is Death. And ALL who DIE as in Rev 14:9-11, will DIE the Second
Death in the Lake of Fire and Brimstone.

Sure sin leads to death. Death of our mortal bodies which go into the grave, back to the earth from which they came. The Spirit that YHVH God gave goes back to Him.
He gives the breath of life to people, when the breath goes the body dies the 1st death. At the resurrection the body & spirit come back together for the final judgment & if the person finally & forever rejects YHVH & His Son Y'shua then that persons breath leaves as they go into the lake of fire & their body is burned up & gone. That is why the first time we should have dust to dust & the 2nd time is ashes to ashes & people who get themselves cremated are preempting the 2nd death by being made ashes before the time.
The only beings that will burn in torment in the lake of fire are the devil, the beast & the false prophet in Rev 20:10 the others will be burned up 21:8= 2nd death!!

First I am not a Christian but I will send you to a Christian site that explains Death and hell in a Christian way. It will clear up the way hell has been used by people to create fear and thus more converts to christianity. Words that have been translated as hell in the english bible mean grave. As Revelations states people will be brought from the grave checked against the book and some will suffer a second death in the lake of fire.
These are not my beliefs but you asked for a Christian perspective and many of the answers you have received have shown the same scare mongering with which christians have used for centuries.

What you have written it all True. We cannot enter Heaven in our sinful man. We must be cleansed by the blood of Jesus. Repent for our sins which we have committed, to know them and feel them all, then to be brought to the cross and ask for forgiveness. Only then you can be freed from the fires of Hell. It is not an easy road. I would love if you would read the Pilgrims Progress " Journey to Heaven" by John Bunyan or watch the Movie from it. IT will show you the Spiritual and Actual Warfare that will follow. The Broad way to Hell and the Narrow way to Heaven. Beautiful:) May God help you understand.

Gal. is pretty clear, isn't it? The bible calls it the 'carnal nature' which means it seeks
addictions, porn, gambling, gossiping...Paul explains a list of those things.
Those things destroy, destroy everything in the person so they are no good for
anything EXCEPT all that...oh, they can go to work, have another 'persona' to get
the money for this.
Lust if continued to be dwelt upon, becomes sin....if someone INSISTS on doing things
they KNOW are harmful...it becomes a sinful habit which is very tough to stop.
God wants His family to be a healthy family, away from sin, which will mean
away from lust.
Everything that continues going the wrong way MUST be removed, just
as rodents getting into someone's house must be caught and killed.

Remember that only accepting Jesus and being "born again spiritually " leads to salvation, because Jesus is the source of everlasting life. Before we are born with "living water," aka the holy spirit, we are essentially dead. When we chose to follow Jesus, we are dead TO SIN. In other words, we have seen the light and can discern good from bad. A life of sin, without a relationship with Jesus, leads us to one other thing: to be eternally cast into the fire.
I think I know what your question is... I believe the part about death can be literal and spiritual. For instance, having reckless behavior can kill you, but then you die also spiritually. This is a really interesting thing to think about... maybe it is trying to say that life eternal in heaven is life, but in the other place you are dying eternally? I am interested to see what other answers come up here....

God neither demands nor expects instant perfection. He does however require a life of increasing Christian growth and maturity as a function of time.
If you are not a better Christian this time next year then something is terribly wrong.
Sin does lead to death. Thats why we must repent continually as we will always sin. And to repent means to change for God's glory.
Just concentrate on growth rather than perfection and intend to do so for the rest of your life. God will reward you.
Psa 34:18 The LORD [is] nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
Isa 57:15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name [is] Holy; I dwell in the high and holy [place], with him also [that is] of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

In the first book of the bible, God told Adam that the penalty for eating the forbidden fruit would be DEATH. ... Genesis 2:17
The last book in the bible, Revelation, tells us that the final punishment is DEATH. ... Revelation 21:8
References to torture are usually given as "Illustrations" or "Parables.". ... They are making a point about how horrible being separated from God will be.

Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
You seem to be focused on the wages of sin. Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death...
It is true, that to die outside of Christ leads to eternal judgment. That is what happens to anyone who chooses not to put their faith in Christ. Because God offers to forgive our sin, cleanse us and give us a way out of our rebellion against Him, those who choose to remain an enemy of God, will die as an enemy of God.
Now focus on the second have of this verse.
Rom 6:23 ... but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Jesus came to pay the price for our sin. But we need to be proactive, repent of sin, and put our faith in Christ. Jesus said that unless a man is born again, he can not enter the Kingdom of God. That is the gift of God. Whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
