Why does the cabin smell like carbon monoxide?

When I warm up my truck, 04 Dodge Dakota, there is an intense presence of CO2. I don't have a hole in the floor, and the windows are up. Where is this coming from and what is the solution.

Set your HVAC system to recirculate (Not fresh air) if the problem persist, have your exhaust system checked for a leak.

Wrong carbon but I get what you mean. You probably have a small exhaust leak. Even with all the windows up you can still smell it because there are sometimes little vents for fresh air behind your dash or down low by the kick panel. I would suggest getting your exhause checked, the fresh air vents, if you have them, are probably working just fine. There is a chance that these vents have mud or dirt in them and are staying open. Try looking up inside your wheel well for a little grade with holes, and if its muddy clean it out. Thats just my idea though, I may be wrong. good luck to youj

  • so many problems with the statement. Co IS CARBON MONOXIDE. CO2 IS CARBON DIOXIDE. either one is not really needed in the cab of the car but co is deadly since ir does not readily release from the blood cells.

If you can smell carbon monoxide, you are dead. If you can smell carbon DIoxide, you have exhaust problems.
