PCSing to Fort Hood TX?
My husband and I are PCSing to Fort Hood, TX. What are the safest cities around the base? Which city is the best place to buy a home (live in for 4 years then maybe rent out) ? How is Killeen, TX? I spoke to someone from El Paso and they told me that the city was pretty racist (not sure if they are exaggerating or simply ignorant) I know these questions are a lot but I like to know what I am getting myself into ahead of time. Also, if anyone knows of some fun places for my husband and I to go to on weekends? ;) thank you very much!
I know I have sources with the army but second opinions are appreciated.( im sure ill get a couple of smartass answers so keep that in mind.)

I agree with the Major, have your husband request a sponser. They can help you out a lot, if not just have him found out what unit he will be assigned to and ask for the FRG's phone number or email.

Please.
The only city to be concerned about is Killeen and then only certain sections of the city like the area just outside the east gate along Rancier Ave and North of Rancier and some other areas around the old downtown area. But other than that you should be good.
If looking to buy and then make it an investment property, My first choice is Harker Heights, then Copperas Cove and then Killeen. Just like any city, you need to do the research as some areas of each city is better than others.

Do we not assign Sponsors in the Army any more?
EDIT: why were you talking to someone in El Paso? You know that El Paso is almost 600 miles from Hood, in an entirely different type of local environment, right?
