is there any way to dilute a brown hair dye?

i know with semi permant color (that doesn't need to be mixed) people add white conditioner to the dye to lighten it.

But i purchased a brown hair dye that is too dark, will i be able to mix it together and add conditioner to it to the mix to lighten it? or does this only work for pre-mixed (semi) dyes

As soon as you start washing your hair semi will start to fade out anyway...it only lass about 10 washes. If you are not a hair stylist I would not try to mix dyes. You can end up with something completely different...I'd just buy new dye.

Yea, just dont leave it in for very long and you shouldn't have a problem. Although it depends, it will only work if you want it only 1 or 2 shades lighter. Other than that, return it and buy a lighter shade.
