Quick simple breakfast ideas?

I'm a student teacher and my main block placement begins next week and I have to catch the bus at 6am to get there on time as it's quite far away. I need to set off from my house at 5.30am to get to the bus pick-up. I would rather eat breakfast on the bus so I don't have to get up too early. Anyone got any ideas for a filling breakfast I cold take on the bus with me? It needs to keep me feeling full until lunch time. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. :)

Well, I have to get up at ridiculous o clock too, and I find Rivita breakfast biscuits are AMAZING! They're made out of oats and wheat, and taste like yummy digestives, but without the fat.

Don't know if four medium sized biscuits will last you until lunch, though...

I really like Dan John's "crack oatmeal":

    ***

    Ingredients

Real oatmeal, not instant, about two inches of it in the bottom of the slow cooker

    Raisins. A lot.

Cinnamon, both the ground kind and a stick or two.

Any kind of fruit, dried or fresh, you have handy. Throw it in.

A little bit of vanilla. This will give it a smell that makes you want more and more.

    Chia seeds, a few spoonfuls

Water, milk, or cream to cover the dry stuff. Stir once.

Put this on low for about three hours. Then, turn the slow cooker off and add protein powder (don't need it but if you're into it), probably two scoops and some extra water, milk, or cream. Make sure it's a little soft and soggy. It'll continue to thicken overnight. The raisins will really plump up, too, indicating you're on the right track.

Let it all sit overnight. Upon rising, crank it up to hot for about ten minutes and mix it up nice.

    Slightly different view -

When I had an early rise job I took well to Intermittent fasting. There are several takes on this but basically I would just eat a big late lunch and a big dinner. If nothing else it helped me tell when I was actually hungry and when I was conditioned to eat.

Get instant oatmeal, microwave and then put in a to go cup - takes only a couple minutes while you are getting ready. I like the brown sugar oatmeal and adding raisins or cranberries, nuts whatever you like.

Make pancakes or waffles the night before and you can pop in the microwave.

I used to make scrambled egg & cheese sandwich quickly before having to leave at 5am for work. Pop bread in toaster, scrambled eggs are quick or make it like an omelet with cheese and whatever you like such as tomatoes or spinach or ham... put it on bread or tortilla etc, wrap it in foil to keep it warm and make it easier to eat on a bus.

Do you like chicken tacos or fajitas? You can make those the night before and throw them together quickly in the morning. I am not adverse to eating a non-typical breakfast but some people are, so just an idea.

You could always grab a can of Slimfast or Ensure and a breakfast bar.

Make a breakfast sandwich the night before and keep it in the fridge, or how about some fruit, water, and a cereal bar. Or an instant pot of porridge?

There is a lot of stuff on the internet that is basically fat-shaming diabetics for causing their own diabetes with their bad diet and lack of exercise and general lack of moral fibre. A lot of this stuff is written by non-doctors, often with a supplement or diet or training plan to sell that they claim will completely cure diabetes if only people stick to it.

I read this interesting book https://tr.im/KfVg2 that gave me a lot of useful tips about my disease and also a different perspective on the best therapeutical approach. I think you should read it too.

You could make your own breakfast burritos at night, put them in the fridge and nuke for a minute or 2, wrap it up and take it to go.

Toasted bagel and cream cheese. I think breakfast is the best time to have carbs!
