    6x = 5x - 8

    Subtract 5x on both sides

    x = -8.

    To check substitute x for -8.

    6(-8) = 5(-8)-8

    -48 = -48

    So yes you are correct.

    Hi,

    Set your answer out like this:

    6x = 5x - 8

    6x - 5x = -8

    x = -8

    Right answer, just show HOW you got there.

    Hope this helps. M.

    Yeah it is. X=-8 because you subtract 5x from both sides, and get 1x=-8, or just x=-8

    Yep~! :)

    6x=5x-8 (Subtract 5x from both sides)

    1x=-8

    And since the 1x is just x, you've found your answer. -8 is correct!
