I'm buying a used car from a private owner. Will I need to have insurance before I purchase the car?
I've never had insurance before. Should I call insurance agencies before I get the car? Get quotes/etc? I won't know if I'm going to buy the car until I see it.

If I were you, I would. You will need to provide the year, make and model, ofthe vehicle as well as the vin number. But don't buy it on the spot. You need to have it checked by a mechanic as well as running the vin number to make sure everything checks out. Use carfax. So when you go back for the second time, call ahead and get the insurance bound. Then you can stop by the agents office and take care if the rest. This is a big purchase, take your time and domit cautiously.

Retailer around for charges with different firms to look if that you may get a greater deal somewhere else you can compare charges right here: INSURERATESNOW.Info RE purchasing used automobile from confidential occasion---plates, insurance, registration? I've purchased from so much before, but never a personal occasion! Whilst you purchase a automobile from a man or woman, how do you go about the entire coverage factor and of course there don't seem to be any plates on the item! How do you get it house for those who cannot make it to the DMV that very second?! Does coverage have got to be bought earlier than which you can even depart the person's condo??? How precisely does this method work? Oh, and that i suggestion of some thing else: shall we embrace the man or woman promoting me the automobile had simply re-registered it in January or so........Does that mean it doesn't ought to be registered once more unless that same time next yr? Obviously my title has to get switched over on the registration......However why pay TWICE in a single year for the registration on one auto???

You won't need the insurance before buying the car, but it would be a good idea to start trying to get a few quotes from several insurance providers in order to have a good idea of what it would cost to insure that particular year, make and model car. The insurance would be based on several factors, including:
your age
driving record
type of car
your age
and the area that you live in

No once you buy the car, sit in it, and call up the insurance company and jot down your new policy number and drive away.
If you get pulled over just read them the policy number, and say you bought it just now. It's no problem. Actually I drove without insurance for a week after I bought my car, it's no biggie unless you're stopped or pulled over.

no its good to get a quote though. You get the title from the owner then call the insurance company to set up your insurance coverage preference they might want a down payment first.you will then need a RMV form from the insurance company which you then bring to the RMV where you get your tags and stickers.:)
