Is Texas the model for America?
Recently in the news were many stories of the exodus from California due to exhorbitant taxes, crime and an unbelievable cost of living due to "green" policies.
Texas, on the other hand, has a booming economy, no state income tax and one of the lowest cost of living indexes in the country. Texas has a huge number of churches and high level of faith, a power grid of its own (no Federal oversight) and is the largest state exporter of goods to the world among American states. Texas is highly conservative with few gun laws and low crime, a state constitution that supports marriage as being between a man and woman only and recent legislation that would RETURN all excess taxes raised to the people of the state.
Texas also is quick to fight Obama Care in the courts and fights other repressive Federal laws in the courts. Texas welcomes and works hard to encourage business with open arms and support.
While America has turned its back on freedom and embraced communism, Texas stands as the shining light of freedom and hope to the world. May God bless the great state of Texas.

America would be a damn boring country if all states were like Texas. One of the things which makes this country great is our diversity.
Hate to tell you this but if I had a choice between any one of the states along the eastern coast and Texas - Texas wouldn't even be in the running. The idea of living amongst all those Christian, Republican, gun-toting, death sentencing Texans in their horrible weather makes me shudder.

It depends. Faith is a detriment not a perk to your state. You also have an increasing number of Latinos and its predicted that you will be a swing state in the next few decades. People of there seem to have serious issues if their state motto is "everything is bigger in texas". Part of the reason your oil companies are so successful is because the socialist federal government gives you oil subsidies. Ur marriage laws are unconstitutional because their bases comes from a religious standpoint which means you are respecting a religious view which is a violation of the constitution. You guys are also about average in gun related deaths, and the states on the higher end of the spectrum are your fellow conservative states. You also control how textbooks are written in this country and your state legislation that makes decisions on what does or doesn't go in is controlled by right wing christian special interest groups. Conservatives also didnt like social security when it was introduced and now they defend it. Same will probably happen with obaamacare. you lack the knowledge to be asserting that america has turned its back on freedom on embrace communism. do you know anything about how societies function? Have you even been to europe or only heard what other people tell you? Your stagnated brain is annoying. Have fun as you become more and more the minority and fade into irrelevance. Your population is also less educated than most liberal states, which is a tendency for all conservative states in general

So what are you saying, that every state should be like Texas? No, I doubt New York or New Jersey or Vermont want to become just like Texas.
