Can you help me with a few algebra questions?
What is a consecutive number?
a) write down 3 consecutive even numbers where the middle number is 28
b) write down 3 consecutive even numbers where the middle number is x
c) given that m+ 3 is an odd number, write down the next 2 odd numbers.
2) what is the average of x and y? what is the average of 10 and 22? what is the average of a, b and c??
Sorry for all the questions and please do your best to help!! I really want to be able to understand this maths!! Thanks for any and all help!! xoxox

To clear things up, you cannot have one consecutive number. Consecutive numbers are numbers next to each other in a sequence of numbers following a given rule. For example in the natural number system of positive integers
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, .........
1 and 2 are two consecutive numbers
2, 3, 4 are three consecutive numbers
1, 3, 5, 7, are four consecutive odd numbers
6, 8, 10 are three consecutive even numbers
or you could have a sequence of numbers starting at 7, say where each consecutive number differs from the previous one by 3 for example. Thus
7, 10, 13, 16, 19, 22, .......
So 10, 13 and 16 would be three such consecutive numbers.
I won't answer Questions a or b as you should be able to answer those from the explanation I've given. Question c might be a little harder. What the question is asking is: given that m+3 is odd, what are the forms of the next two odd numbers? What you need to thik about is that every odd number differs from the previous odd number by 2. So we have
m+3, m+3+2, m+3+2+2
ie
m+3, m+5, m+7.
For Question 2, you need to understand what average means. The word 'average' can be used in quite a number of different contexts, but the way its worked ot is the same. To get an idea of what it means, I'll give another example. I don't know about you, but where I live in London (UK), it's been raining pretty often over the last month. Let's say, I decided to list the number of days that it rained between the 1st January and 28th January. Say it rained for for 3 days in the first week; 2 days in the second week; 5 days in the 3rd week and 3 days in the 4th week. So over 4 weeks it rained
3+6+5+4 = 18 days.
To work out the weekly average, I would need to divide the total number of days it rained by the number of weeks in question - ie 4. So on average it rained
18/4 = 4.5 days per week
As another example, if I wanted to know the average number of goals scored per football match over the last weekend, I would add up all the goals scored and divide the total by the number of matches played.
So to answer your specific questions:
Average of x and y is (x+y)/2, since there are only two elements x and y
Average of 10 and 22 is (10+22)/2 = 32/2 = 16
Average of a, b and c is (a+b+c)/3
I hope you get the idea.

1)
A) well if 28 is the middle number of 3 consecutive number the other two will be 27=28-1 & 29=28+1 Answer=27,28,29
b) same principle as so if x is the middle number your answer will x-1, x, x+1
c)If m+3 is an odd number to write down the next 2 odd numbers you simple have to add 2 so m+5 is the next odd number and m+7 is the odd number after that
2)well to work out an average you add up the things you want to find an average from and divide by the number of things you have.
a) so the average of x and y is (x+y)/2
B) so the average of 10 & 22 is (10+22)/2=16
C) so the average of a, b, c is (a+b+c)/2
Hope I helped

consecutive just means following one after the other in order according to the defined rule
for example, consecutive whole numbers starting at 1 would simply be the counting numbers: 1, 2, 3, 4, and so on.
in problem a) the rule or pattern for the consecutive numbers is even, so that means count by 2. you only want three such numbers and you're told the middle one is 28. so the first one is 28-2, and the third one is 28+2, hence 26, 28, 30
b) this is the exact same problem as a) except you replace 28 with x:
so instead of "you're told the middle one is 28. so the first one is 28-2, and the third one is 28+2"
you're told the middle one is x. so the first one is x-2, and the third one is x+2 (I just copy/pasted then edited each 28 to an x), so the three numbers are x-2, x, x+2
c) same concept here but now we switch to odd numbers. if you start with an even number and add 2, then you get the next (consecutive) even number. likewise, if you start with an odd number and add 2, you get the next consecutive odd number. so start with m+3, then add 2 to get the next odd number, then add 2 to that to get the next odd number
m+3, m+5, m+7
bonus points if you realize m itself must be an even number
average is calculated by summing up all the given numbers (or "data points") and dividing that total by however many there are. so the average of x and y is found by first adding: x+y. there were only two numbers, so we divide x+y by 2 to get (big surprise): (x+y)/2
now do that with 10 and 22
then you're given a, b, c, so after adding them together, you divide by 3 because there are three numbers.

a. 26, 28, 30
b. x + 2, x, x - 2 (if x = even number)
c. m+1,m+3, m+5, m+7
2.( x + y ) / 2.
(10+22) / 2
32/2 =16 <---- Average of 10 and 22.
( a + b + c) / 2
Hope you understood! :D

consecutive means one after the another..
consecutive even number means even noo after a even no.....
a)cons.even no with 28 as middle is 26,28,30.
b)x-2,x,x+2
c)m+5,m+7
2)average is the middle value of two no.
given number x and y then the average is (x+y)/2
if it is 3 nos.(a+b+c)/3
average of 10 and 22 is 16

a.
2n+2n+2+2n+4
2n+2=28
2n=26
n=13
26, 28, 30
b.
2n+2n+2+2n+4
2n+2=x
x-2, x, x+2
c.
m+3=2k+1
next odd number=m+3+2=m+5
next odd number(2) =m+5+2=m+7
2.
(x+y)/2=average of x and y
(10+22)/2=32/2=16=average of 10 and 22
(a+b+c)/3=average of a, b, and c
