How to stop maple from warping?

I recently made a big stirring paddle out of fresh maple (literally cut of the tree). I was wondering if there is anyway to stop it from warping naturally. I'm going to be using it in brewing and most finishes will taint the batch. I heard mineral oil works. Any thought at all greatly appreciated.

When I have a piece of wood I'm worried about warping, I will cut relief channels in the back of it to help alleviate some of the pressure. It works well. You might not be able to do that with your paddle, so, like you said, oiling it may work. There is also a product called "salad bowl finish" that is food grade and washable. You might consider that. A company called Woodcraft Supply has the best price I've found so far... Link below:
