I have the same problem Andy, but I'm only 64 so I guess there is no rush to make up my mind.

I think Don H has it right. If you are waiting for some magic flash of insight to reveal to you what the perfect choice for you is, I'm afraid you'll be dead before you discover anything. There is no perfect choice but a choice you will have to make - and go with it or simply stay in one place and rot.

If you want to be mechanical about this write down things you think you MIGHT like. Then order them in terms of preference. Then choose #1 and go with it.

I'm a 71 year old retired physician. I think, in retrospect, I would have enjoyed a career in research (mathematics - my undergraduate and graduate degrees) at least as much as being a doctor but I had to make a choice and I made it. I DID enjoy my life as a doctor.

It seems to me that part of the problem is the thought that there is ONLY ONE right choice of the many possibilities. This is not the way human nature works. Each of us vacillates in our likes and dislikes from day to day and expecting to find the PERFECT choice just isn't realistic. Then there is the myriad of possible careers to choose from - it would have been easier in some ways if there were far fewer possibilities to choose from.

Good luck in making a reasonable choice and taking a shot at it.

This is one of the things that bugs me about high school. Teachers and everyone around you always asks you what YOU want to do. However, you don't always know. I don't think it's that simple. I change my mind every day. To be honest I agree with the person that said you may never know. You just have to do something you can tolerate. You may not always love it but you may think it's semi-interesting. In other words don't sweat it and just choose something.

Then do something big. Do it now. Don't think about it. Just throw urself at the world and go with it.

A life that doesn't include Jesus is a wasted life. Live for Jesus. Repent or Perish. May Jesus bless you.

The meaning of life is to have "purpose."

Purpose is the basis for all our actions.
