Were there any Court Challenges to the 17th Amendment?

    You can't "challenge" the constitution (or any part of it).

    The problem with the 17th Amendment is that it calls for direct election of the Senators. ... Since the original intent was to have a house composed of persons who would defend State's rights (appointed by the State legislatures), the implementation of direct elections undermined that principle and made the Senate no different than the House ... so, why have two houses ?
