can I leave the US for 6 months without losing my benefits?

A friends receives disabiity and foodstamp benefits. He's a US citizen. Can he use a forwarding address for his benefits in his absence?l

    no food-stamps, and disability depends on the type, if it is SSDI (social security) it will continue but SSI (supplemental security) will be discontinued...

    many short term and long term disability insurance policies will NOT pay if they are out of the country.....
