Does it matter if I read children's literature?

I'm 21 and I read mostly books about fantasy and adventure like Harry Potter, Narnia, Redwall and The Hobbit. But I've often heard that these kind of books are part of children's literature. Like I tried reading some of The Lord of the Rings books (which are considered more for adults) but I found them very hard to read even though I love the movies. I also started reading one of the James Bond books by Ian Fleming, Dr. No but I don't whether that's considered a children's book or not. But does it matter if I enjoy reading children's literature despite my age?

    * I do not see a problem with enjoying children literature.

    * I'm 47 and read "The Chronicles of Narnia" and "The Hobbit" just a few years ago. My first language is not english and I did not discover those books until recently.

    * I still like to read comic books / graphical novels, specially those related to Batman or Star Wars.

    * When my dauther was in elementary school one teacher assigned her to read the first Harry Potter novel and I read it with her.

    * I also like to read other fantasy and/or science fiction novels directed to adults like The Lord of the Rings, A Song of Fire and Ice.

    * I like also to read classical novels like "The Count of Montecristo", "Treasure Island", and works from Julius Verne, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Ian Fleming and others like them.

I'm 22 and I love to read children's literature. In college, during by Sophomore year, I took a children's literature class, which was designed for teachers, but it was still a good class and we read good children's books, the most recent book was Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone. I no longer enjoy reading really childish books, like picture books, but that is just preference. Due to the nature of the James Bond books, I don't think that they would be considered children's books. I don't think that the books that you enjoy reading are strictly children's books. If you enjoyed those books while you were younger, you still have rights to read them now. There messages are universal and they probably have adult fans, too. Harry Potter is enjoyed by both adults and children. The themes in Harry Potter are probably not appropriate for some children.

I dont think so. I am 23 and I read YA novels as well as books like A song of ice and fire by george RR martin (game of thrones show is based off these books). I just finished a book called the red pyramid which is about a 13 and 15 year old brother and sister and has all types of mythology in it. I pay more attention to the content of the story rather than the age group. I am planning to read harry potter too. Read what you like. It might just take you time to find the right 'adult' book.

No, I don't think it's too much of an issue. While I read adult novels myself, I do sometimes pick up a young adult book, or even children's stories like Beatrix Potter.

i red narnia when i was 25, i loved it. i don't think they should be children books because they are full of christian ideology and orientalism, i've got that from the first reading, i hated the ideology but i loved the fiction.

I hope not. I'm 21 and I read "children's lit" all the time. I also couldn't get through LotR...
