Since Mega Million chance to win a jackpot is 1 in 176 millions, does it mean that ...?
if you actually buy 176 millions different tickets, you would guarantee to win the jackpot? And if the jackpot is 640 million, you would guarantee to make a profit?

"No if you the odds would still be less than 50 %"
How did you come up with that number Keeno?
Yes, if there are 176 million possible number combinations and you bought 176 million different tickets, one for each possible number combination, then you would be guaranteed to win. However if someone else also won, you'd have to share the prize. If the jackpot was 640 million and three other people also had winning tickets (more likely when the jackpot gets big and many more people play) then your share would be 160 mil, so you'd lose money.

lmao! less than 5o% is right but are you an idiot? You have a 1 in176 million chance and you buy 176 million tickets no you're odds are not 50% b/c the minute someone buys another one your odds go down. and no if the jackpot is 640 million you're definitely not guaranteed a profit you're guaranteed a good shot at winning but not 50/50

There is no personal guarantee.
Say the odds of a contest are 1 in 4.
You buy 4 and lose all 4.
What that means is that a person who buys from the same store, the 5th ticket, stands a very awesome chance of buying a minimally winning ticket (Break-even ticket at least).
1 in 4 or 1 in 176,000,000 simply means most of the losing tickets have been bought, setting up a winner for the NEXT ticket... if you don't win.
That would be dumb whatever the case.
The MegaMillions stands and $176,000,001... so you spend $176,000,000 to gain $1?
Crazy.
Oh, and that's IF you win.
They say those grappler games (in most states) MUST provide a winner per 12 to 15 tries.
If you lose all 12 tries, the next guy will probably win.
That is how odds work.
Maybe two people lose ALL 4 in a 1 in 4 odds game.
That means the next two will (probably) win.
Three lose in a 1 in 4 odds game?
Next two win.
Third person loses.
Fourth person wins...
...or fourth person loses and fifth person wins...
...or fourth, fifth, and sixth person loses and the seventh wins.
There is no way to figure it out.
You just play, daydream, rip the ticket up and spit on it... then play again... daydream some more... rip the ticket up... punch in for work...
...play again...
...break even...
...exchange that ticket for another ticket...
...win double...
...exchange that ticket for two MORE tickets...
...win triple...
...exchange for THREE more tickets...
...lose all three...
...play again...

If they're all different tickets and not randomly generated ones, then yes you'd be guaranteed to win. But you'd lose money, after the cost of those tickets and the taxes and then most likely splitting the jackpot with someone else.
