Andrew Jackson. Jackson got in a duel with someone who he knew was a better shot. So, to ensure he hit his opponent, he stood there and let his opponent (Charles Dickenson) shoot first. After Dickenson shot Jackson in the chest, lodging a bullet in his ribs, Jackson clutched his chest and slowly raised his pistol and carefully took aim. Dickenson, not wanting to be the coward had to just stand there and wait for Jackson to fire. Dickenson died. That is the best known Jackson duel story.
