Isn't it interesting how the President and the EPA are driving the coal industry out of business...?

I don't know if the President is trying to put the coal industry out of business but I do know that Margaret Thatcher certainly did in the UK for political reasons. As a result we have all but depleted our natural gas reserves from the North sea.
This technology looks fantastic and could make the millions of tons of coal still underground in the UK a valuable resource again although the mines are now flooded and disused. The EU target of 20% renewable is ridiculous and unrealistic. Wind and wave power already push up bills at only 3% of overall power production(on a good day).
I personally am a big fan of nuclear power but people feel less threatened by windmills. I hope this technology gets the backing it deserves but its up against the ecomentalist marxists and tree hugging brigade.

here is a thought for you, which energy source releases the most radioactivity into neighborhoods?
1. nuclear
2. natural gas
3. hydro
4. coal
trick question, it is coal. coal is made of carbon, which is the element used in gas masks to trap poison gas. when coal is burned, its soot still has natural radioactive radon gas, that is why they use geiger counters to track the smoke plumes from coal fired industries. as a comparison, the one time 3 mile island release was not measurable with a geiger counter even on the site. considering that radon gas has a very clear association with cancer (just ask miners) you can't actually accuse coal to be a clean source of energy.
