Why does my stool smell like rotten meat?

The funny thing about the human digestive tract, especially the intestines, is that they ARE long enough that meat does rot a little while it goes through (this is why some nutritionists advocate eating high fiber, or lowering meat intake) so it could literally be rotting meat that you smell. Now, that doesn't necessarily mean that it's normal. If it is increasing with frequency, or happens for several days in a row, or even if you just feel paranoid about it, consult a doctor.

Nope I am not being funny, my stool every now and then smells like rotten meat or like I let something die up their and then pooped it out...why is this? Just wondering if its something I ate or has to do with my IBS.

How long has it been that way? If it's been a while I'd make a log for two weeks of everything you eat then if it continues go to the gastroenterologist and bring your log with you to share with the doctor, they might have some insight!
