Party Locations...NYC?

I want to throw my bf a surprise party for his 25th Birthday, I am having a hard time finding a venue. Ideally I would like to use a small loft or rooftop space... Anyone know of any sites where I can research a location? Please help!

my Google searches are turning up large spaces for corporate/weddings...

    That sounds nice, but not easy to pull off. Maybe you can get a small room in a restaurant.
