If you top off your carrots what will happen?

I want to top off my carrots that i just transplanted will they still give me carrots? or is it best to leave wilted tops on?

    Without the top, you can not have carrots. The carrot would just rot away. I've never transplanted carrots. They are started from seed and remain where they will mature, since it is difficult to transplant them. You break a lot of feeder roots when you pull one up and without those, the carrot would not grow. And without the top photo synthesis can not occur. However, you can store them in damp sand over the winter without the top and they will keep as long as they do not freeze.

    They aren't supposed to be transplanted. Leave them alone and hope they survived
