Do I have to learn to shoot the rifle if I join the Marine Band?

Because they say every Marine is a rifleman. I don't mind going to boot camp and running and marching and rappelling, but I don't know if I care to learn to use a deadly weapon. But the Marine Band seems to me to be the most prestigious military band in the world.

(This is hypothetical at this point because I still have at least another year before I can audition for any band).

No, you don't. "Unlike the other musical organizations in the Marine Corps, “The President’s Own” has no secondary tactical or combat mission." If you pass the audition, you do get a kind of "mini-boot camp" that covers military customs and ceremonies, but nothing about combat, self-defense, etc.

    Good luck with your audition.

Recruits to the President's Own Marine Band enlist at E-6 and don't go to boot camp. You don't get selected for that band unless you are exceptional; many members have conservatory masters degrees. Everybody else, including musicians, goes to boot camp.

The balk from a M16 or M4 firing the 223 isn't something considerable. Pull the inventory of the gun tight into your shoulder, including numerous your mass to the mass of the gun, slicing the balk. you additionally can use the sling to help save the front of the gun down once you hearth. That grew to become right into a classic trick with the longer 1903 Springfield and M1 Garand. artwork on your top physique potential. in case you receive the muscle, the balk is far less complicated to handle. practice.

Every Marine is a rifleman. That is true. Your secondary MOS is only a preference. There are no guarantees that you will even be a part of the Marine Band. You will go to Boot Camp, just the same as any other Marine. You will be taught to use your rifle with precision, as there is always a chance of your life depending on your knowledge of your rifle. I'm really not trying to be rude but I would seriously reconsider enlisting if I was only wanting to enlist to be a part of the Marine Band. Good luck!

Yes all marines are trained for combat. You will have to go through bootcamp like every other recruit.
