Can rain ruin a dry clean only garment?
Like would it leave ugly stains on it, or cause some kind of discoloration?

And in what order should we hear them?
2 AnswersClassical8 years agoWhatever happened to Mozart's symphonies #42 thru #54?
And for that matter, #37?
Sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm only now beginning to explore beyond Mozart's greatest hits.
3 AnswersClassical8 years agoHow can I do the ACE Hardward "Find Your Soul Paint" picture with Photoshop or Photoshop Elements?
There is a Facebook app that's supposed to do it for you: https://www.facebook.com/acehardware/app_197581477... but it's so demanding it crashes my browser. But since I have both Photoshop and Photoshop Elements, I should be able to do it myself with just a couple of layers of filters, right?
I tried a layer filled with the color I wanted ("Lucky Charm 1062") set to Hue mode and it didn't quite give me the result I wanted. Any suggestions?
1 AnswerPhotography8 years agoWhy do so many men like to wear blue shirts and red ties?
I think it's an ugly clash, like mismatched socks, but I see lots of men on TV and in real life dressed like that.

Or do most of them really think any insane bastard ought to have the right to buy lots of guns and lots of ammo?

3 AnswersMilitary9 years agoDo Navy ribbons carry over to the Marine Corps?
If someone serves in the Navy then they go over to the Marine Corps, do they get to keep the ribbons they earned in the Navy?
Also, I've heard of a ribbon Navy corpsmen get for combat action with a Marine Corps unit which includes the eagle, globe and anchor on the ribbon itself. If such a corpsman then became a Marine and that ribbon carried, he (assuming women can't be corpsmen for combat units) might be the only Marine with an EGA on a ribbon.
(I got to thinking about this after Peter's question "What's the maximum number of Marine Corps emblems a Marine can theoretically have on his uniform?")
6 AnswersMilitary10 years agoWhat military customs (Army/Navy) are applicable to the Chicago Police Department?
Things like taking off your cover indoors (unless under arms), saluting, etc.
I'm asking because I watched the premiere of "Chicago Code" yesterday and I'm wondering about a few things, if they're authentic?

4 AnswersWikipedia1 decade agoFrom what Offenbach opera does the Marines' Hymn tune come from?
There was this Lieutenant at the Marine Corps Ball who mentioned it as a tidbit but then couldn't say what the original lyrics were, or if it was in the overture.
2 AnswersClassical1 decade agoWhat is a normal price for a local artist to sell CDs to a record store?
Assuming of course that the record store can be convinced to take a risk on the artist in question.
Let's say the artist gets a thousand discs in jewel cases or "digipaks" made by DiscMakers or some similar company for about $1,000, so each CD costs them about $1. The record store might charge customers as much as $20, if the demand turns out to be great enough.
If the artist charges the store just $2 a copy, it seems to me like they're leaving a lot of money on the table. But if they charge $18, they got greedy and the record store might decide not to even bother.
So my question is, where is the right price?

6 AnswersWikipedia1 decade agoWhy does the Wiki. Review crowd want to deny sysops the pleasure of coming down hard on misidentified vandals?
Doesn't the Wikipedia Review crowd realize that coming down hard on people who happen to have the same IP address as vandals has great therapeutic value for sysops? Don't they also realize that by falsely accusing innocents, they are also discouraging them from participating in Wikipedia, accomplishing that goal far better than all their wikibashing?

6 AnswersWikipedia1 decade agoIf Wikipedia is so utopian, why do so many people have bad experiences with it?
Under bad experiences, there are the content struggles (edit wars, revert wars, move wars, even admin action wars), various retaliatory actions, the famous witch-hunts, being slandered by an article, having content you licensed to it be used for purposes that you would've never approved of, having your intellectual property outright stolen, etc. How can all this be reconciled with the lofty stated goal of "making information free" and "breaking down class barriers"?

2 AnswersWikipedia1 decade agoShould we be more concerned about children editors on Wikipedia?
We laugh at the 12-year-old admin who thinks he knows better than a renowned astrophysicist and fret our sons and daughters could be exposed to hardcore porn on Wikipedia, but might it be more damaging for children to be Wikipedia editors?
