How can a non-jew convert to orthodox jeudaism?

I want to know how i can convert. I've been doing alot of research about orthodox jeudaism. I feel like when i read about it i feel closer to god. I am 18 years old im currently in school. I heard that when you contact a rabbi they will reject you because they dont want to convert anyone. How can i do this any advice?

Anyone can convert. In past times it was traditional for someone seeking conversion to be turned away three times; that is not true any more. We don't actively seek converts because we believe that anyone who is a good person has a place in the World to Come. So first you need to determine which branch of Judaism (Orthodox, Reform, Conservative) appeals to you; and then contact a rabbi from that branch. It takes 1-2 years of study; upon conversion you are as Jewish as anyone else.

From my understanding they do accept converts- they have in the past.

If you are at an Orthodox SYNAGOGUE do not call it a temple.

Calling a Synagogue a temple is a modernist thing.

The only thing an Orthodox Jew would call the temple was the Jerusalem temple.

Jews are not in the business of postalizing people.

However, if you want to convert, talk to the Rabbi of a local synagogue.

He will be happy to talk to you.

You've read up on Judaism so much that you want to convert, but you missed everything having to do with the process of conversion? I suggest you keep reading first before you attempt conversion to a religion you don't know much about.

you are correct. judaism does not accept of seek for conversions for the most part. they believe that you must be born into judasim. there are a few rabbis who will assist a person in conversion but you really have to have a good reason for it.

if you have been researching judasim, then you should have discovered that they are not able to keep the laws which God gave them to live by because there is no longer a temple in jerusalem for them to make their sacrifices of bulls and sheep, doves and goats to.

judaism today is a mere shadow of what God intended for it to be because the sacrifice of Jesus fulfilled all of the old testament laws there were supposed to be keeping.

if you really want to convert, you will find it easier to do if you go to a reform or conservative rabbi and then you can later join an orthodox congregation if you really want to.

try looking into a messianic congregation as well. those are born again jews.

Why would you want to do that?

Before you think about converting, learn to spell Judaism.

Your dad had to have been of direct seed of Jacob. remember there still are twelve tribes.you might be in one of them. But if you are not of Israel you can't become Israel. You are or your not.

Source(s): Search the scriptures. If you are of Jacob The Lord may lead you.

To be a jew you have to be descendant of David. I don't reckon even a jew could swing that one for you.
