Well, being a sheep isn't all baaaaaa baaaad....
Everyone has to be something....
I would rather be a sheep in Heaven, then not be anything at all, outside Heaven.

Yes, God calls us His sheep, but all humans, believers and unbelievers are sheep (obviously this is all just symbolic/figurative). Sheep are probably the dumbest animals on the planet, and that's why we're called sheep, but it's not an offense, it's a way to show us how we as humans do stupid things sometimes and we need a Shepherd to protect us. We Christians are set aside as His flock as appose to the unbelievers who are just sheep.

A person who looks after sheep is a shepherd just as someone who looks after goats is a goatherd. "Shepard" is seen occasionally as a surname but it is an illiteracy that has become established. It is "The Lord is my shepherd" not "shepard". You could argue that "shepard" is a female leopard but I don't think Jesus is one of those either.

It was a parable in the New Testament. Just as God created the innocent sheep to have a sheppard, so as for certain life situations on Earth and aspects of life on Earth, we can receive remission of sins and be forgiven for our sins through the innocent blood of Christ. "For I am the sheep. Nobody comes through the father but by me."
The parable is saying that if you don't believe in the flesh of the son, you won't go to heaven. As Jesus Christ states, "How can you believe in heavenly things if you can't believe in earthly things first." The children of God have goodness of their hearts, and through the salvation of Christ, are innocent like sheep, who need someone else to care for them. Just like the care, connection, feelings, and love of Jesus Christ is the way to salvation through faith.
Best wishes.

Why not?
"When he (Jesus) went ashore he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd."
I am glad to say that I have a compassionate Savior, and shepherd.

Yes, but it's why, when, where.
Once Christian, we 'see', see what's around us, see what's against us,
which was not against us before this. Now we've stirred up those
'sleeping lions' ...which were always there (speaking spiritually).
Once Christian, we need a Shepard, before that we don't.
We enter the 'battle zone'.

Yep, we are likened to them compared to a God and from this God. So when something that created us and is much more intelligent than us says it is so, then it is so. Lest you know more than an all knowing being, and some (maybe you) think they do.
bless you.
And Jesus is God, so our protector is God. Win for us no matter what we are called.

christians are sheep, there is no doubt about it. They have no purpose in life but to be skinned, just like sheep. Their brains aren't worth much either...just like sheep. excellent observation sir

Yes, we are all sheep, baa-baa blackbird. (And shepherd is not spelled like alan shepard.)

This is actually not a bad analogy.
It could have been worse I guess.
He could have said something like: You are all fish and I am the fisherman.
