Big 1 ounce lures?
A whole ounce for a swimbait is pretty f'n light. I'll take that one as a joke, though. Haha. Anywho, when fishing swimbaits, the key is slow. Slow and steady.
Sorry fisherman andee, you've ruined the question for me.
EDIT:
You forgot hollow-body swimbaits, by the way.

A big 1 oz lure? Well thats about your average lure size but ok. Anyway it depends what lure. What type is it? Spinnerbait crankbait? Swimbait? What?
Edit:All right well let me cover all swimbaits for your knowledge or the 3 basic types.
Hard body-These look like trout, bass, perch, bluegill whatever (usually) typically a slow retrieve
or deadsticking is used.
Soft body-These are the ones that have those plastic tails. Just reel a steady retrieve or put em on a swimjig.
Ughh well nevermind guess there is only two. Well there you go thats a general rule. Not all swimbaits are the same though.

It is not too important how you retrieve them. Just be sure to vary your retrieve so that it is presented like a live bait would be.
