Every individual is different. Different people go through different emotional phases, if one guy breaks up with a girl he will be very sad about it, expressing it or not. Another guy may go through a breakup and won't care as much. Either way, it all depends on how they express it, you can't tell what a person is thinking, especially someone of the opposite sex.

I have not dated many people but honestly I was miserable during the relationship and relieved when it was over.

Your friend is full of ****. One, some guys feel relieved after a break up because they were in a relationship they hated, that happened to me once. I am still not over my first girlfriend. We broke up two years ago. My cousin was in love with a girl, she had a band. Now he can't even listen to songs that he used to love because he is so heart broken. If you don't think that sounds like getting depressed from a break up I don't know what is. Guy just try to act like they are ok.

When you have a lover, the physical affection that you share will cause your oxytocin levels to spike. How much your oxytocin levels spike depends on your GENDER, as well as how you feel about your partner.

Girls tend to be much more affected by oxytocin than guys are. Which means, girls fall in love easier. But any person who is addicted to the higher levels of oxytocin (that feeling of being "in love") will suffer a very deep depression after a so-called breakup...when your source of physical affection from someone you are emotionally attached to is suddenly GONE...

Generally speaking, if a guy is in love with a girl, then the breakup will affect the guy EXACTLY as it would affect the girl...

However, guys do have a slight advantage, sometimes...in dealing with a breakup. See, guys CAN (and often do) have sex with girls without necessarily falling in love with them. Sometimes girls can have a lover without falling in love, too...but girls have a harder time separating the act of making love from the emotion of being in love.

So it's POSSIBLE that a guy could have a long-term girlfriend and not suffer too badly when she breaks up with him. IT depends on whether he fell in love with her or not.

But it's most accurate to say that a bad breakup will affect the guy exactly in the same manner that it affects the girl. Because it's not safe to assume that the guy did not fall in love with the girl, before the relationship ended.

No this is not true, guys has just as hard a time as the girls. In some cases I am sure there is girls that also get over a breakup very fast. But its hard to stereotype. But in most cases I have to say that guys doesn't show their grief as clearly as women.

It really depends on the person. If someone is motivated on breaking up they are less likely to be hurt compared to the peer. All people react in different ways but if a stable relationship is broken apart both people tend to feel hurt or sad. You can't just assume that everyone on one side of the gender doesn't feel hurt

i broke up with my ex girl now two weeks ago after a year and 3 months and definitely feel the pain only because i loved her. it depends on how emotionally attached they are. and btw guys cry 2 they just hide there pain more and get on with life. also guys act like they dont give a **** and sometimes move onn to get over the ex girl thats why they act like they didnt know you as it is because its to much to bair knowing or being friends with someone you love after breaking up.

I used to think that boys didn't care as much as girls, but then I realized that guys just aren't good at showing their emotions. Also, I was dating jerks. If you fall in love with someone, and they love you back, then he is going to be just as hurt as you if things don't work out. The only time I ever saw my brother cry, was when his long time girlfriend broke up with him. But when he went out in public, he acted normal, because he didn't like looking vulnerable. I think guys just don't like looking vulnerable.

That's bull! Both genders can be strongly depressed, it depends on how much a person loved the one they lost.
