why do catholics call themselves monothic?

in all polls it shows that catholics pray to at least 5 other being before even thinking of preying to god (yeweh) , so wouldnt that be the same as the lesser gods of zeus , and if the first commendment is to wareship no other being before me wouldnt they be breaking that one

Update:

you shall not not worship any graven images

you shall not worship any other god above me

i am a jealous god

what is the crucifix

what is "veneration" of the saints

why be jealous if there is no other god

    First we PRAY to God not PREY to God.

    Catholics worship God alone.

    Prayer on the behalf of others is throughout the bible.

    As Christians we are all co-heirs with Jesus and part of his body we are all co-redeemers and co-mediators.

    Romans 8:17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

    Romans 13:7 Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.

    1Corinthians 12:27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it

    2Thess 2:14 He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ

    Acts 8:24 And Simon answered, "Pray for me to the Lord, that nothing of what you have said may come upon me."

    Acts 12:5, "So Peter was being kept in the prison; but prayer was being made to GOD for him by the Church without ceasing

    1Timothy 2:1 I desire therefore, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men:

    The Saints are Alive.

    Mark 12:27

    He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You therefore do greatly err.

    The bible tells us the Prayer of a Righteous person does much. Who more Righteous than the Mother of God and the Saints?

    Proverbs 15:29

    The Lord is far from the wicked: and he will hear the prayers of the just.

    James 5:16

    Confess therefore your sins one to another: and pray one for another, that you may be saved. For the continual prayer of a just man availeth much.

    Revelations 8:4 And the smoke of the incense of the prayers of the saints ascended up before God from the hand of the angel.

    "The ear that listens to salutary reproof is at home among the wise. Those who disregard discipline hate themselves, but those who heed reproof acquire understanding.The fear of the LORD is training for wisdom, and humility goes before honors"

    ~~~Proverbs 15:31-33
    Peace be with your spirit
    Catholics don't pray to other gods. They pray to patron saints, which are people who lived good lives and then were made into saints. It is kind of like a relatable figure, a role model to look up to. It's actually quite beautiful.
    this question continuously amuses the hell out of me. until Henry VIII (Anglican) and Martin Luther (Lutheran, then some 30,000 different sects, and counting) got here alongside, the Orthodox and Catholic church homes have been the Christians. there have been no others. Catholics = Christians for 2000 years. Protestants = Christians for sort of 500 years. And the only distinction between the Catholic (unique) bible and the protestant bible(s) of their diverse translations is that Martin Luther threw out a number of the books the catholics had desperate to be the "stimulated be conscious of God" decrease back interior the Council of Nicea interior the 4th century. All protestant bibles are derived from this unique source. i'm not even going to touch the "what catholics do isn't interior the bible" one. The Trinity isn't interior the bible. "unique Sin" isn't interior the bible, that replaced into invented through Augustine (a catholic theologian) interior the 4th-5th century. The Rapture isn't interior the bible. The bible for sure states Jesus is the "son" of "god" in some places, it quite is asserted that the bible additionally says Jesus IS "god" someplace else and the protestants are nonetheless combating over that. this isn't a protection of the catholics, through the way. i'm agnostic, i think of all you adult adult males are combating over a great number of made-up stuff with out info. yet, in case you will combat among yourselves, please a minimum of attempt to get your historic info immediately and your dogmas properly pointed out as to source. in any different case, you in simple terms make yourselves seem ridiculous. advantages on your adventure!
  • Catholics do not pray to other gods. They will direct their prayers to God through the intercession of saints. Not the same thing at all.
    And the word is monotheistic.
    All Catholic prayers are directed to God. The Catholic teaching is that there is only one God, three persons in the Trinity. You must be speaking of the Catholic practice of showing our love for one another by praying to God for one another. God bless!
    I presume you mean Monolithic; formed of a single large block of stone. It is actually quite logical for them to think this, since the entire earth is connected and is mainly comprised of stone.
