Will the UNH ice core study be like Argo?

http://www.fosters.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/...

Funded by the National Science Foundation, do you think this Antarctic ice-core study will show that current climate is not so far out of the ordinary, and like Argo data, will get reprogrammed and swept under the rug when it doesn't do what they want it to?

No. I doubt it because it takes a couple hundred years for fern to form. That is the ice formed in glaciers that is solid enough to encapsulate air. The best they could do is get air from a couple hundred years ago but that air would have been subject to migration, differential Sociabilities, diffusions, etc. and it becomes a bit of wild guess what its concentration would be. The further down you go the better the results but it is still subject to interpretation and problems but the religion of AGW depends on its accuracy and precision, both of which are questionable.

That said, they will certainly try to suggest it shows unprecedented warming yada yada yada. These people are one trick ponies.

Wrong Prick, the first answerer is a geologist. The second answerer is an imbecile.

This sounds like an attempt to pre-discredit the research before it is completed and reported. The research is being done by competent scientists and they will analyze the data by standard methods and publish the results. Then would be the proper time to discuss what the results mean, when you actually have something to discuss. The data will not show anything about the current climate but it may give some insight into whether West Antarctica has experienced the same past conditions as East Antarctica.

Source(s): I have read a lot of Skeptic's attempts to discredit scientific research after it is published, while it is ongoing, and even before the results are published. The Skeptics really like to attack the research before it is published so there will be plenty of doubt established before the results are known.

I don't know where they get the "unrivaled climate record" from. They say this record will go back 68,000 years, but the Vostok core goes back 420,000 years.

I see no reason this, or any data would be 'swept under the rug'. Argo data is not, it is available from here: http://www.coriolis.eu.org/Data-Services-Products/...

Yet another "question" suggesting a conspiracy theory as is the first answer. Surely the Koch brothers or any one else could fund a study and put it up for pear review if they were concerned it was about taking their money, after all they spend more money then a study would cost trying to convince us to vote for the "right" person...
