does hypoglycemia cause tinnitus?

my doctor told me i could have hypoglycemia and that is what is causing my severe tinnitus. Has anyone ever heard of this?

    Hypoglycemia is definitely not a common cause of tinnitus. Most of the time the cause can't be identified. Based on the info in this question alone, the idea seems ridiculous. There has to more to this story than what is written here for a doc to have reached this conclusion. Without knowing more about your medical history and other things the doc may have observed there's no way to know if the doc's explanation makes sense.

    The most common cause of tinnitus that suddenly appears out of nowhere and then persists for several weeks or more is viral infections. Tinnitus from viral infections (colds and flu mainly) usually shows up within a few weeks after the infection has gone.
