It's a disputed country in southeastern Europe. Bordered by Serbia (North and East), Montenegro (West), Macedonia (South) and Albania (South and West). This means that it considers itself a country, and is accepted as a country by many other countries in the world, but Serbia still claims ownership over it. So it could be either described as a state of Serbia, or an independent country south of Serbia, which is now the more commonly accepted definition.
