...Thanks everyone for the positive comments on my upcoming Black Belt test.?
Its on March 1st 6pm and into saturday
the 1st part of my test is a 97- to 100 minute kubadachi (horse stance) endurance
thats a long time in kiba..
All martial arts systems are similar and yet different at the same time as far as the kiba dachi drilling we do its for leg and kicking strength. and yes its a training stance. (and no the test fee is not 400. 00 bucks several hundred less actually) We are a self defense based school so we do, do things a lot different than most schools i don't down any schools in any way. Because i enjoy the Martial arts very much..This is a big test because ive been doing this many many years and Im earning Dan rank in judo, Jiu jitsu, Karate,

Over an hour and a half in horse stance?
They are treading on dangerous hazing territory.
I've never seen any need to stand in horse stance for anything other than a few minutes as a conditioning exercise. 10-15 minutes at most.
And, March 1st is a friday. So your test will be an overnight thing, too? Just what is it you have to do to show you are worthy of black belt that you haven't done already? Such tests make me sick. They are abusive and show no practical need to do what they do. Either, there are so many people testing, suggesting they ought to split the test into smaller ones; or they don't plan properly, meaning, shouldn't you be able to demonstrate most of this stuff some other time to show you are ready?
Sorry for the sour grapes on my part. I just hate seeing people go through these tests of endurance when they can be more efficiently handled in other practical ways.
Anyhow, good luck. Don't eat too much before you begin your test, and drink plenty of water.

First good luck with your test and remember a black belt is not the destination but rather the beginning of a the real training.
Now as far as over a hour and a half in a Kiba dachi, that is just plain ridiculous! I just tested for my Yondan and that test was only about 2 to 2 1/2 hours long and there were also 4 other people testing.
That much time in a kiba dachi cannot be healthy. Martial arts are not just about self defense, they are about creating a balance. There is nothing balanced about that. Just guessing here but I would be willing to bet that you also have to pay a large fee for testing, say around $400.00 plus? Right?
Testing is not about endurance, it is about demonstrating good technique and the fact that you have the required knowledge to hold the next rank, not how much weight you can lift, how many push up you can do or how long you can maintain a static stance. I personally would take a hard look at where I trained and the priorities that they put forth.

I would only ask why would you need to do that?
Something sounds really fiashy about that, especially for a BB test.
That is a long (and uncessary) time in kiba-dachi.

...Good luck, however I disapprove of using stance training for testing purposes. It sends the wrong message as to what stances and kata are for.
