Simple Maths Percentage Question?

I've forgotten how to do this kind of percentage question. Here it is:

54% of the students in a school are girls.

There are 420 girl students in the school.

Work out the number of students in the school.

    54% is 420

    1% = 420/54

    100% = (420/54) times 100

    or

    let x be total number of students

    54x/100 = 420

    x = 420*100/54 = 777.77777

    so we would have to say

    number of students = 778
