chevy door pin with spring assembly?

I vote one of many of the worst chevy gm patents. can anyone tell me the pro's to that design cause its a pile of crap agreed?

Update:

replacing them isn't a problem unless your wife slammed to the door to compensate for the door not shutting easily another way thus cracking the hinge wheere the upper pin is..

What are the pros to the GM hinge? There isn't one unless you want to consider cheap as one. The problem started occurring as the doors got heavier and heavier to protect the occupants in a side collision. GM failed to upgrade the hinges. While it is simple to replace the pins and associated bushings, you need your friend Bubba to hold the door up while you work the pins in place. I love my S-10's, but replacing the hinge pins gets to be quite tedious.

    What's the problem? Seriously..?

Pretty much every car made for almost the last 100 years has had door hinge pins... & they're all basically the same.

If your wife is having to slam the door to get it shut, your hinge pin bushings are worn out. They are easily replaceable. If that's the case, you should have repaired it before it became a bigger problem.

Source(s): had many Chevy's. Never had a problem with doors on any of them.
