Help Me Understand Hyperbola Question?

I need to find the center and vertices of the conic section.

4y^2 - x^2 - 4x - 8y - 4 = 0

From there I would group my X and Y terms and move the -4 to the other side.

(4y^2 - 8y) - (x^2 - 4x) = 4

The next part is where I get confused when I take the 4 out of the 4y^2 as a common factor.

4(y^2 - 2y ) - (x^2 - 4x ) = 4

In the next step, it shows me inputting a 1 with my y-terms and a 4 with my x-terms, this is the part that always confuses me. Can anyone explain how I properly get to the 1 and the 4 in those empty spots?

    try doing this way:

    4y^2 - x^2 - 4x - 8y - 4 = 0

    (4y^2 - 8y) - (x^2 + 4x) = 4 => you have some mistake here

    4(y^2 - 2y ) - (x^2 + 4x ) = 4

    4[(y-1)^2 - 1^2] - [(x+2)^2 - 2^2] = 4

    4(y-1)^2 - 4 - (x+2)^2 +4 = 4

    4(y-1)^2 - (x+2)^2 = 4

    (y-1)^2 / 1 - (x+2)^2 / 4 = 1
