If 'The United States Of America' is called the 'USA'?
Why then is it not "TUSOA"?
@ Terry, Proper Grammar IS to use Capitalization & to use the full title. Perhaps in America the rules of English are different? However, America does not speak "English", just a butchered version of it. ... With acronyms, every first letter of every word in a title or name is supposed to be used. Want an example? Look at one of your dollar bills. .. Does it say "in God we Trust", or does it say "In God We Trust", or is the whole of it capitalized? Best you polish up on your English before you buff.

We say 'the USA' - so an initial T would be superfluous. Just like we say 'the UK' rather than using a T at the start of the acronym.
'The' and 'Of' are not always included in acronyms, and where I come from (the UK) small words in titles are not written with a capital letter. An example I grew up with is the RSPCA - The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Only the important words are used in the acronym. Same with the USA - and some people do call it, 'the US of A' when speaking casually.
It's true that most internet-age acronyms use all the letters in a phrase, but they've only been around since the 1990s.

Because it is not proper to include words such as "of", "the", "for" etc, in acronyms. Also with capatilization in titles. It is just a rule of grammar.

That's too long. They needed to cut out the less important words so that it would be easier for people to say.
