How old do you have to be to fly without parents?
I want to fly to California to visit some old friends but my parents won't go. I can get permission but i need to know if a 14 year old could travel from Florida to California. I've never flown before so i'm not sure what is necessary, i'd need to do it on my own if i wish to go, is that possible?

You can fly without your parents as early as 5 years old on just about every airline. However, if you are between 12 and 15(depending on the airline). You must fly as an Unaccompanied Minor, this is an extra service where the flight attendants basically act as your escort from one city to another. They also make sure that you are only picked up by the authorized person at the destination. Because this is an extra service, there is a fee that can be anywhere from about $75-$150 in addition to the cost of the ticket. As a UM you also have additional restrictions as to the flights you can take and if they have connections or not.
If you are on an airline that allows you to travel alone at 14, then you are treated just like any other adult passenger. Some airlines will give you a choice at 14 as to if you want to use the UM Service or not.

properly me and my brother are the two under sixteen and we could desire to shuttle from u . s . a . to Europe each 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. We continuously fly with US airlines yet regrettably not on my own. My dad and mom could desire to pay for a flight stewardess to escort us or fly with a man or woman over 21(i'm uncertain if its over sixteen or 18 or maybe 21) who has criminal permission from the two one among my dad and mom. All of this is using the fact we could desire to make a connection in Europe and then proceed to a rustic that maintains to be in Europe yet there is not an instantaneous flight. As a count certainty i'm flying on the 14th. take exhilaration in Switzerland and have exciting!

depends on the airline but many require you to pay an unaccompanied Minor fee up to a certain age. you are probably at the age where it can go either way
thing is , if you are not comfortable with the thought of having to be responsible for getting yourself to the right gate( and possibly transfer planes en route) it may be worth the fee anyway
